Family Saying Graphic on Wood Coffee Table Restoration

I always love a nice solid coffee table with a chunky base to have some fun with.
I didn’t get a picture before I sanded the original varnish completely away from the top. The edges of the top took a bit more work getting in the groove with a sanding block and paper to finish it off by hand.

I stained the top in New Baltic Pine which was a similar colour to what it was originally.
I was going to varnish and leave it at that, but then decided to go the extra mile and add some graphics, and I’m really glad I did.

I printed the wording in fonts I liked (after finding a saying I liked on the internet) and the size I was happy with. I then traced over the letters using a piece of carbon paper behind the words, facing down on the stained table top. If you don’t have carbon paper, you can use a pencil to shade the back side of the words, then trace them on to the wood. Then using a Sharpie pen or permanent paint pen, go over the lettering carefully.
Did I mention … I LOVE MY FAMILY …   🙂

After a couple of coats of satin varnish to the top, I painted the legs and base in Antique White USA (Dulux). I used a primer undercoat because I really wanted this to stick and have a smooth finish as opposed to the Shabby sanded look I often use with chalk paint.

That’s a beautiful table! It looks like my coffee table (but I didn’t add words).

Yes, it is similar. I like the wood top look at the moment. Have done it with a few things. Thanks for stopping by my page.
