Personal Ponderings

I’m dedicating this post to my beautiful Mother-in-law, LaDonna, who loved the colour purple, loved roses, Valentines Day, Christmas, and any other reason to celebrate.

I’ve been a little quiet on Social Media the last few weeks, as we said a tearful goodbye to Marty’s Mom, after a quiet battle with cancer which took a turn for the worst around Christmas time. She entered her Heavenly reward on February 2nd, and as those who have lost loved ones will know, there’s so much involved in this whole process of losing someone you love. From the practical things, to the emotions that accompany such loss, it all creates an unexpected increase in time spent sorting, loving, helping, organising, and just being there for each other. We are so grateful for Marty’s sister & husband arriving here from the USA to help and be here for Dad, as we navigate this new journey of life without Mom. **(To avoid any confusion, no this is not my mum, who I posted about a couple years ago after a diagnosis with a brain tumour. She is doing fine right now. This is Marty’s Mom, who I call “Mom” because she’s my USA Mamma).

The Color Purple

Mom loved the colour purple (see the pretty frame in the above pic), and I think it’s fitting that Pantone announced that their Colour of the Year is Ultra Violet. Mom loved to wear purple, collect purple dishes, teacups, wear purple lipstick and would even point out a purple car driving past, letting us know it was her favourite colour.

I love that the team at Fusion Mineral Paint has come up with a custom combination of their own colour range, that mixed together, creates a really close representation of Ultra Violet!

Here’s the recipe using colours from the Fusion standard range:

  • 3 parts Liberty Blue
  • 3 parts Cranberry
  • 1 part Little Teapot

So in our Tester Size, you could purchase these and have over 250ml of Ultra Violet:

Roses are Red … and Pretty Pink too!

Mom also LOVED roses. Red roses were probably a favourite, but any kind would be adored. She loved to celebrate Christmas, Valentines Day and all the holidays in between.

This Valentines Day, we launched the new Fusion Mineral Paint colour, English Rose, here in Australia! Such a soft pretty pink colour created by Michael Penney for the Penney & Co collection of the Fusion Mineral Paint designer range.English Rose Fusion Mineral PaintEnglish Rose
