I was given this old side cupboard by a friend and it was in fairly good condition, but needed a facelift. The hinges were nailed in, not screwed, and the previous varnish job was fairly shabby.
I took all the hardware off, but since I used chalk paint there was no need for sanding back. I gave at least 2 coats of chalk paint using a DIY recipe I found here.
My daughter helped me paint the insets of the doors this lovely green colour.
We also painted the inside back and sides green.
And now for the sanding … I usually do this by hand, but thought I’d see how the electric mouse sander would go on this and I was really happy with the result.
A lovely chippy look!

I purchased new door handles with an antique brassy look.
