Fusion Extender – 60ml

Have you been struggling to get a super smooth paint finish? Struggle no more! We’re excited to introduce Fusion’s Extender!

It works by not allowing the paint to dry quickly, therefore giving you what’s known in the paint industry as “more open time”, which is more working time with the paint before it dries. Therefore Extender can help eliminate the appearance of brush strokes! (It is similar to Floetrol.)

Recommended ratio of 15 mL per pint (500 mL) of paint.

Using too much of this product will increase drying time substantially, but also increases cure time.  Add maximum 10% of original paint volume.

PREPARATION:

Mix 1/4 a bottle (15ml) – 1/2 a bottle of Extender (30ml) together with a pint. 1 bottle is good for to 2-4 pints. Adding more is not recommended as it will impact your drying and curing time.

CLEAN UP:

Soap and water.

SURFACE PREPARATION:

Prep your piece as you would to paint with Fusion Mineral Paint. Clean your piece with TSP and give it a light scuff sand.

APPLICATION with Extender:

Once mixed with Fusion Mineral Paint, apply paint as usual. You will notice a longer open drying time, thus giving you time to work with the paint and smooth out brush strokes. Once your first coat fully dries, apply a subsequent coats as needed. We recommend waiting at least 4 hours between coats when using the Extender. Should you notice that applying your second coat is lifting off the first, either too much extender was used, or it needs more time to dry and cure before applying another coat.

DISCARD UNUSED PAINT:

Once mixed with Extender, the Fusion Paint must be used up within a couple of days. Just mix in what you need to complete your piece, remember you can always add more if needed!

Sometimes brushstrokes are accentuated by the tools used, or too much paint on the brush/roller, or sometimes it can simply be the environment – that’s where the Extender comes in handy!

Ensure that you’re using a high quality fine brush like our Cling On or Staalmeester Brushes, they have the perfect synthetic bristles to avoid leaving brush strokes behind. Using too much paint can often create excess ridges and lines from too much product on the surface. However, sometimes the environment is too hot and or dry, and the paint simply dries too quickly creating more brushstrokes. Adding some Extender to your paint will extend the drying time, and help to eliminate those brush strokes. It’s as simple as adding a few drops to your paint!

Extender CLEAN UP:

Soap and water.
