Restoration Rescue …
Some lovely friends from church were helping to clear out a relative’s house and sent me a picture of this TV cabinet, asking if I’d like them to rescue it from being demolished with the house. YES! So they put it on their trailer and dropped it off at my house. What a blessing!
Preparation and painting:
The surface was fairly high gloss and smooth, so just to be sure, I painted some of Fusion’s Ultra Grip onto the surface for extra adhesion.
I painted the outside using a few coats of Fusion Mineral Paint in colour Casement, and the back inside panel board, in a custom colour made with Fusion’s Champness with a little Casement added in to lighten up the blue.
Built in Top Coat – NO Waxing!
The great thing about Fusion Mineral Paint is that it has a built in top-coat, so you get that chalk painted feeling without the added need for waxing and finishing. Waxing is an option if you want to add more of a sheen to the matte finish of Fusion, but it isn’t a necessity.

What have you transformed in your house lately?
It was a rainy day yesterday, and I felt motivated to finally start a gallery wall in our entry way. It’s a small start, but it’s a start! I can’t wait to fill it bit by bit with not just pictures, but other bits and pieces too. I made the Family Name sign a few years ago and I do take custom orders if you’d like to email me at sharon@i-restorestuff.com.
If you are stuck for ideas of where to find furniture and decor to up-cycle and restore, here’s a handy post I wrote a while back:

Enjoy!
