I was off to a kitchen tea/bridal shower a couple of weeks ago and the day before, I had an idea to add a personal touch to these plain wooden hangers to include in the basket of household items I had purchased for my gift. (swipe the centre line across the screen to see before and after pic below.)
You will need:
- Wooden hanger or two
- Fusion Mineral Paint in sample pot size in your colour of choice. ($8AUD)
- Sandi Hands or sanding paper in approx. 180 grit
- Fusion Stencil (choose from our range or one of your own)
- Metallic paint (choose from Copper, Bronze, Gold, Pearl, Silver Fusion Tinting)
- Furniture wax to finish (optional)
Sanding them down with my Sandi Hands sanding gloves took less than 60 seconds. (You can purchase these in our online store HERE)
Then I picked a couple of Fusion paint colours – I chose Champness & Ash. Fuson has excellent coverage, so I only needed one coat of each.I used Fusion’s Gold tint metallic paint to stencil butterflies on the bride’s hanger (she’s a butterfly kinda gal). And Fusion’s numbers stencil came in handy to create a “1,2,3,4” on the Groom’s hanger. (He’s a drummer, so I’ll let you figure that out.)I added a little message to the hanging bar as a little reminder to “Hang in there” when the going gets tough, cuz we all know there will be tough times. Relationships are valuable, and need to be worked on to keep them alive. (my two bits worth).I used MMSMP Furniture Wax to give them a nice sheen to finish, but this is an optional step as Fusion Mineral Paints have a built in top-coat, giving a great matte finish that is fully wipeable. Since I sanded back the edges for a vintage distressed look, I opted to wax these to seal in the raw wood edges for a nice finish. All ready to go into my bundle of household goodies for the happy couple!
My basket of goodies contained a number of items with a little note attached to each. A fun idea for a personal touch to your shower gift.
Here’s a look at how easily Fusion Mineral Paint is to apply:
