I scored this old suitcase at a boot sale last weekend for only $5. It’s a little beyond looking lovely and the inside is not in great condition. The perfect example of a trial with the new sample pots I received from Fusion Mineral Paint last week of their new colour range inspired by Canadian designer, Michael Penney.
Sample pots are 37ml and the colour I’m trialling is Seaside, a lovely ocean blue. I have already seen how far these little pots can go. I tried it out on a wooden box – see post HERE.But I was surprised at the amazing coverage I got with just one coat on this suitcase, and no need for going over with a 2nd. After painting the entire outside, including underneath, I still have a little left in the bottom of the pot! (the following 2 pics are a little gray in colour due to lighting)I love that Fusion has a built in top coat, so no need to wax or finish, but it is still optional if you want less of a flat finish and more sheen. I didn’t prep this piece other than give it a wipe down to remove dust and grime. The paint adhered really well, even to the plastic corners.I then used one of our stencils (Illegible Script writing – available HERE) to try one of the complimentary colours in their range, Pebble. All of the Michael Penny collection colours have been created to compliment and co-ordinate with each other.Pebble is a soft sandy grey white. After stencilling, I dry brushed around some of the edges for a feathered effect, very gently, as you can see below on the lock edges. This would make a great addition to any beach cottage or sea-side themed room. The colours in this collection are all named and inspired by the seaside life.
You can order the new colours by clicking on the Product tab above and selecting Fusion Mineral Paint to view a range of colours, sold in both sample pots and 500ml larger pots.
