To Paint or Not?
I have transformed mirror frames a few times by painting them, and it can really make a difference to the overall look of a mirror.
I had found this pretty wood frame a long time ago, and I couldn’t find the original pic to show you, but I painted the frame in MMSMP Eulalie’s Sky and added white wax to highlight all the details as you can see in the close ups:
Chalkboard?
I created a chalk board out of it, painting with chalkboard paint (you can also create a chalk board using MMSMP Typewriter or Fusion’s coal black).
Let’s try a Mirror
I had it up for sale for the longest time as a chalk board and it wasn’t selling, so I decided to call our local glass cutter and have him cut a mirror for me. (It’s so hard to photograph mirrors without dodgy backgrounds in my house, so here is my “one-day-I’m-gonna-paint-it” piano and a painted chair in Luckett’s Green).
Antique Find
I also had found this amazing huge frame at our local thrift store, with a lovely historical print inside it. Something of Thomas Jefferson era in the USA, by the artist, V. de PAREDES.
Again, I posted as is, for sale, but no takers. So I up-cycled and had a mirror cut to size for this frame also.
Okay, so the glass needs cleaning …
I love the details in the frame…
Okay, big question:
Would you paint the frame? or leave as is? I am contemplating painting this one, but not sure how. I could even paint in metallics. What do you think? Leave your comments below, I’d love to hear from you.
