I’ve used Fusion Mineral Paint Clear Glaze a couple of times on other projects for adding a dark glaze, like this Coffee Table (click on image for tutorial).and on this Picture Frame with applique.
But recently, I painted this little table in the beautiful aqua colour, Eulalie’s Sky in Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint and I wanted to give it a beachy feel and add a little white wash look to it.
Fusion’s Clear Glaze
Clear Glaze can be mixed with any of the Fusion Mineral Paint colours to create a whole new look for your painted piece. Just think of all the possibilities! Metallic paints included! And then depending what colour you are glazing over, there are even more possibilities.
In the following video I show you how I added the clear glaze with white paint to my painted table, but because I know you’re going to ask about quantities, I’ll let you in on my secret – which is my best guesstimator! Really – I just add a bit of Clear Glaze to a dish, then add a drizzle of paint colour to tint the glaze. But for those of you who want a better-than-just-a-guess kind of quantity, here’s a general idea:
1 Tablespoon of glaze : 1 teaspoon of paint
This amount will cover approximately a small table similar to the one I use in this video demo:
You can see the subtle white wash in the crevices and along the paint lines. These would be accentuated even more if I had not used a self leveling paint, but used a chalk type paint that can show off the brush strokes for added texture.
To Finish:
To finish off your piece, make sure you add a sealer such as Fusion’s Tough Coat Wipe-on Poly or a clear wax such as Miss Mustard Seed’s Furniture Wax.
